About

Courtney Shosh writes upmarket fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Prior to focusing on creative writing, she worked in editing, public outreach/education, and communications in the environmental field. Her positions involved writing for public audiences and occasional media contact. She holds a B.A. in English, B.S. in Resource Ecology & Management, and M.S. in Natural Resources & Environment, all from the University of Michigan. She is an active member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, serving as a first-round judge for its annual Star Awards and on the editorial team for its e-zine, WriteOn! She’s also a member of Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and Wyoming Writers.

Courtney has lived a life of wonder and adventure including once helping to relocate a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park, fighting forest fires, working with inner-city schools, and stay-at-home parenting, the greatest adventure of all. She believes the key to a happy life is looking up from the routine and taking in the small miracles that surround us, shape-shifting clouds, the veins of a leaf, an unexpected smile. When she’s not writing or caring for her family, she loves learning something new or being swallowed by a forest. Her current manuscript, Family Rules (formerly titled Letting Go of the Sky), is the winner of the 2022 Colorado Gold Rush Literary Award in the Women’s Fiction/Romance category.
